Staying overnight at a college you are thinking of attending is a very great idea. Think about it for a minute. If you wanted to really learn about a person, you would have to spend lots of time with them. This would consist of spending the night at least once with that person. The same goes for colleges and universities you are thinking of attending.
You are going to be in college for a minimum of four years, so you need to make sure it is a place where you feel comfortable living. You can find out about a college by talking to people on campus, but there were will be things you see during the day. You should arrange with the college to allow you to stay overnight in the dormitory with the other students. This will give you a true feel for the college, the students that attend, and how they act when school is not in session. Remember, bees are people you will be with for four years of your life.
Many colleges do not offer for people to stay overnight in their dormitories. There are some colleges that do not even allow this to happen. Many colleges however we will welcome you to stay, but you just have to ask. Many people do not think of this as an option or even something they should do. This is about as far from the truth as you can get.
While you are staying in the dormitory, go walk around in the evening and interact with the students. Many students become different people in the evening after school is out of session. You may find many students even tried to sneak alcohol and or drugs into the dormitory. These are the kinds of things you want to look for and avoid while you are in college.
If you cannot find the dormitory to stay, but are still very interested in the college, then you need to rent a hotel room near the college. This will give you an opportunity to go and check out the campus after dark. Ask around on campus and see what social events are going on that evening. If you can find some events that are happening, make sure you attend. If you spend a good evening out and about with students at the college, you will get a different insight about it. When you wake up in the morning, you will feel very differently about the college. This will go one of two ways, in a positive or a negative direction. At least you will find out before you commit four years of your life if this is a place you truly want to be.
